Overview

Struan was exposed to the racing world from a young age, through television, regularly watching Formula 1 and then through his father’s racing in Radical sports cars. Struan was able to join his father Ian at many of the UK’s major circuits such as Silverstone and Donnington. Becoming fascinated with the speed and thrill of the sport he was immediately fixated, showing a desire to pursue motor racing early on.
At eight, Struan began karting and was initially coached by Peter Bonney (Jersey Kart Club) in a Comer Cadet Kart. Struan competed in the Jersey Championships each year, from the age of nine to thirteen, where he enjoyed much success, finishing 6th in the 2004 Cadet Championships, 3rd in the 2005 Cadet Championships, 1st in the 2006 Cadet Championships, 1st in the 2007 Junior Mini Max Championships and 2nd in the 2008 Junior Rotax Max Championships.
Since then his desire to race and succeed in the sport has only grown. Grateful for the incredible support given to him by his family, particularly his father Ian, Struan is aware of the huge investment in both time and money that it takes to succeed. Currently supported by his father’s business Moore Group, Struan’s drive and energy unsurprisingly reflects that of the company.
Understanding the commitment that is required to pursue a career in motor racing, Struan strives to maintain healthy weight and core body strength, with a fitness programme and balanced diet. Maintaining his education alongside the demands of an increasing training and competing schedule is something Struan is committed to. Recognising the importance of a strong educational foundation, Struan accepts that school attendance will give him the necessary attributes to become a well-rounded person as well as committed driver. His School Victoria College have given him great encouragement and support.
Struan has recently made an exciting move in his motorsport career, progressing from karting to cars under the watchful eye of his Manager, the highly successful single seat racer in World Series and Superleague, James Walker. Having just signed a two year deal with championship winning team, Hillspeed, who are unquestionably one of the most professional teams in British motor racing, the future is looking extremely bright for the young driver.
